Curiosityville is a personalized learning world built for young children 3- 7 years old. Through all kinds of media we provide educators and families powerful resources to ensure children become great learners, primed, ready for school and life in the 21st century.

We had the mission to create out of the Curiosityville characters a mini series for Kindergarten of one episode per week through out all school year, so 36 episodes. To approach social and emotional situation that kids can live in their day. Each week is addressing a different issue or feeling, and suggest ways to manage or better understand them.
There is also a set of story cards available with each episodes. To initiate discussions in the classroom, and give tools to the children as well as the teacher on how to manage the social emotional subjects that are brought in the video.
In some early stages, the possibility of doing a fully animated 2D series was tackled. Here are some of my early concepts for the 2D adaptation of the 3D characters.

To stay closer to the actual characters, we went for a stick figures treatment, made out of still frames of the 3D characters. Then created a puppet theater feel to the overall style.
Kids voices were added over the animations, as if it was the kids in the classrooms that were creating those stories with their puppets.
Here are some BG research, animation tests, final poses as well as two examples of the final product. You can also find a couple tests of the Social Emotional cards.
I did all the reviews of the story boards, characters, did the emotional cards sketches... and created some assets and backgrounds for the final videos.
